2006 SAUVIGNON BLANC |
|
 |

|

Arroyo
Seco
Cedar Lane Vineyard
Cool climate grape growing in cobblestone soils
yields an ultra-refreshing white with aromas of pine, lightly pungent lemongrass and grapefruit. Lush textured
and complex, on the palate the wine showcases flavors of passion-fruit and lime, with a distinctively fresh, crisp
finish.
The
Vineyard - Following the success
of our debut 2004 and our 2005 release of this unique variety, we have crafted our third vintage: a 2006 vineyard
designated Sauvignon Blanc from Cedar Lane Vineyard. Cedar Lane Vineyard is planted in the well-drained cobblestone
soils deposited at the mouth of Arroyo Seco Canyon. The Canyon is located at the south end of the cool Salinas
Valley in Monterey County.
Production
- Barrel fermented in the time-honored
tradition of the white wines of Bordeaux
Graves
District, we have sought to retain every nuance of flavor imparted by the terroir of the growing site, supported
by astute vineyard management. Vertical, shoot positioned vine trellising, optimal fruit exposure to light and
careful cropping all combine to deliver strength of character to this offering.

2005 THE CLOSER |
|
 |

|

Deep gold in color and sporting the weight
of Vermont maple syrup, our Closer was hand harvested by my wife Debra and I on December 20,2005 from 100% botrytis
grapes. Following a light crushing and 48 hour soak on the skins, the fruit was gently pressed to barrel for fermentation
using indigenous yeast. After nearly 16 months of fermentation, followed by another 14 months of barrel aging,
the wine was clarified, then bottled in Spring 2008. With notes of honey and apricot nectar, this lovely desert
wines reflects the highest and best use of specialty-grown, late-picked white for the Paso Robles appellation.

2005 MERLOT |
|
 |

|

Our newest release 2005 Merlot was sourced
exclusively from cool- climate vineyards, situated in well-drained Central Coast soils, where tiny berries offer
fully ripe and concentrated character. Vibrant notes of cherry-vanilla in the aroma of this fruit forward wine
lead to boldly structured tannins on the palate. As these tannins have slowly melted away during the 30 months
aging in oak, a deeply pigmented red plum and black cherry-flavored beauty emerges, with elegant body and a warm,
spicy-berry finish. Highly limited in production and destined for cellar status, our 2005 Merlot is likely to be
an instant classic.
San
Luis Obispo County
The
Vineyards -
Our
Merlot grapes are sourced from the Alamo Creek Vineyard, located
in Nipomo in southern San Luis Obispo County. The well-drained cobblestone alluvial soil in this valley insures
slow, steady and complete ripening of the varietal at this locale, where warm days are tempered by cool evenings
and some early morning fog from the nearby Santa Maria Valley.

2004 SYRAH |
|
 |

|

Well defined black fruit and blueberry varietal
flavors and rich texture define our Paso Robles Syrah. Powerful and intense, this wine delivers robust fruit character
supported by well-structured tannins in a wine that is perfectly suited to the table.
2004 Syrah, Paso Robles
Our 2004 Syrah was sourced from Orchid Hill Vineyard on Paso Robles’ cool Westside. This lean site, at high elevation
and planted on shale and limestone soils, produces deeply-colored, robustly flavored wines that display elements
of saddle-leather and blackberry, with firm but supple tannins. The young wine was barreled immediately after pressing
into a combination of 70% French and 30% American oak, 40% of which was new. During the 20-month residence in barrel,
the wine was minimally handled, and it was bottled unfined and unfiltered in late summer of 2006. 352 cases produced.
